Nutella vs. Peanut Butter

VS

Years ago, I watched an episode of Oprah where she went to Sweden to learn more about the women there. It was interesting. However, I was put off by a woman who said American women were making their kids fat by feeding them peanut butter. She would NEVER feed her children that poison. Like many European families, they feed their kids Nutella. I think that's when I stopped watching Oprah. I'm weird.

Years later, I have bought my first bottle of Nutella. It's so good! I could, and I do, eat it right out of the jar. I bought it after sampling it at Costco. The sample lady's little speech touted that Nutella had less calories, fat and sodium than peanut butter, so it MUST be healthier. Right! Well, when I compared their labels, I discovered that peanut butter (JIF) is actually (in my humble opinion) healthier. Yes, Nutella does have less calories per serving (a measly 10), less sodium (a lot less), and less fat (5 grams less). But...Nutella also has 21g of sugar (where peanut butter has only 3g) and 3g of protein (pb has 7g).

All I know is, if I'm temped to eat spoonful after spoonful of Nutella right out of the jar, it's NOT healthy. So there, Swedish lady.
